Letter for the publisher –  A Sicilian Irish fantasmagoria

Dear publisher, illustrious drinkers, eminent sheep and cows, most esteemed Little People, highly esteemed Irish, ultra-interesting readers and nice guys in general. Here it is: Inspector Pedro and the search for the elusive green bone (A West Cork saga: the story of the elusive, mysterious, peculiar green bone of the Emerald Isle)
This book will tell you a story that beganna 84578 days ago on the beach of Allihies, West Corka and, passing through Sicily, finally returned to the present day among the sheep, the greenery and the beer of Ireland!
A love affair with Ireland, west cork in particular, has inspired Giovanni to write a fantasmagoria about the various wonders of west cork with a playful political twist that makes it very relevant to modern life .
The story is a kaleidoscope of comic characters, ludicrous situations with a more than a hint of Italian drama !
This book will have you memorized and intrigued until the very last page.
All in all this book is a celebration of Irelands traditions and incredible landscape, with much comic relief, hyperbole and an undercurrent of sober reckoning!
Ballymacruff is a 360-degree hymn to West Cork: landscapes, traditions, lifestyle, hospitality, nature, serenity... a world apart as the local slogan says.
Furthermore, the book deals with a topic that is affecting many nations all over the world: Globalization arm in arm with Bureaucracy.
If I may, Ballymacruff has a different take, something new.
A book full of humor and twists that involves the interaction and co operation of the humans, animals and the “magical beings who live" in West Cork.
We also include the novel use of an invented/distorted English and Latin for eg. astonishmenta, torturitia, here they arra…and several Italian phrases which are placed here and there throughout the pages of the book, as if to invite the reader to look a little further for their meaning, to give extra color to the whole tal.
All in all its a bit of a spy story, a bit of an adventure book, a bit of fantasy, a bit of horroritia and a lotta of madness!
We truly believe that this book is something different and new in the Irish publishing panorama.
Happy reading.
Aine Brosnan
